This is a new one of mine, based on a poem my wife wrote.
Hope you don't mind that I cheated a little this time around. I DID record the guitar and vox in one take but then added a few overdubs.
I used my Tanglewood Sundance acoustic and overdubbed with a (midi) stand-up bass, (midi) drumkit, (real) bongos and, believe it or not, the thing that sounds like a pedal-steel guitar is actually my Ibanez RG (they don't just shred )
I'm definitely going to redo the vocal as it's a little pitchy in places but overall I'm pleased with this one. Hope you enjoy

Lyric:
I'm tired of all depressing stuff, I think I've finally done enough no I'm not mad any more at all the things I was before
It's really just a joke, the things of which I spoke the pain and all the lies bring tears of laughter to my eyes
Yes, I can barely hold it in, the traffic jams just make me grin the people glaring on the street give me such a tickled treat
It's really just a joke, the things of which I spoke the pain and all the lies bring tears of laughter to my eyes
Adverts with their boorish style never fail to make me smile and if the news knows what they say the world gets funnier every day
The biggest joke of all, while people scratch and crawl while all the world is doing wrong, tomorrow they may drop the bomb
I guess when I soaked all this in all I could do was sit and grin so now that's all I ever do and through the bars, admire the view the nurse sedates me twice a day to stop me laughing my breath away
Been working on writing a few songs this past week or two. None are quite finished yet so I'm submitting one as an instrumental. Not sure whether I should leave it alone as an instrumental or whether I should get working on some words, but anyway, here it is...
Details & miscellany:
Recorded into Cubase in one take with my Tanglewood acoustic.Post processing: a little reverb added and a split into stereo with a slightly different EQ on left and right. There is some background noise from my PC - better than it was having vacuumed out the dust but I think I need to replace the PSU fan.
Okay - here's my first ever VOM entry. We (wife & I) wrote this song for a female singer friend but we don't have her version yet. This is a quick recording I made today of the song - hope you'll excuse the less than perfect playing and occasional bum note in my vocal. I've been working away for the past two weeks and haven't picked my guitar up in that time! Okay, enough with the excuses, here it is:
